The House of St Barnabus

We recently completed this large commission for the House of St Barnabus, a charity that supports London’s homeless people back into work through their Employment Preparation Programme.  Central to this programme is the House of St Barnabus Club, a not-for-profit members’ club which provides a stepping stone from homelessness to  employment by providing work experience.

The club has been set up in partnership with Benugo and is housed in an inspiring environment in the charity’s beautiful, historic Grade 1 listed building in Soho.

Working with Benugo and interior designer, Grainne Weber, Benchmark were commissioned to make many of the pieces of loose furniture as well as the bar.  An eclectic mix of fabrics, together with a richness of materials and finishes, including antiqued mirror, patinated brass, marble and intensely fumed oak, ensure that our pieces sit well alongside vintage pieces and inspirational artwork to create a truly unique interior.  Bespoke pieces made by Benchmark include dining and side tables, chairs, bar tables and a monolithic bar clad in gilding metal. The Theda Chair from Benchmark’s furniture collection was also selected for this project.
