Namon Gaston showing Oxbow Chair at 100% Design with Design Guild Mark

As recipient of the 2014 Design Guild Mark Award, Namon Gaston has been invited to show on the Design Guild Mark stand at 100% Design during the London Design Festival (13th – 21st September 2014).

His winning design the Oxbow chair made by Benchmark, will be shown.  The leather of the sling seat and back moulds over time, becoming more and more loved and personal to the user. With beautiful profiled joints, it’s a lightweight yet sturdy chair with attention to all the right details.

The Design Guild Mark, from The Furniture Makers’ Company, rewards the work of the finest furniture designers working in volume production. The criteria for the award are for excellence in four fields – design, the use of materials, manufacture and function.

We are proud of our collaboration and close relationship with Namon and delighted that his work has been rewarded.

The 2014 awards were hosted by The Master Jonathan Hindle and the judges included Simon Alderson of twentytwentyone, Barbara Chandler of The Evening Standard and Malaika Byng of Wallpaper*.

Namon has been designing and making furniture from his Edinburgh based Studio since 2005. His career has merged both disciplines of design and craftsmanship. Namon’s award winning furniture has become synonymous with its high quality, honest design and rich understanding for the materials with which he works.
