Maker’s Trestle for Lola Lely

Last night saw the opening of Lola Lely’s Atelier at The New Craftsman.  She presented her exquisite Maker’s Trestle which takes inspiration from denim workwear & the ‘boro’ indigo patchwork traditions of Japan. The trestle was made by Benchmark with carefully selected oak that has been stained and ebonised.  Decorative joints and fine brass detailing provide contrast whilst thoughtful brass pegs allow the trestle top to rise up and down according to preference and use.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Lola and The New Craftsmen on this project.  It’s not the first time that we’ve collaborated with Lola.  She was one of the ten young designers that took part in our Wish List Project last year when she designed a striking, and rather mischievous, chaise longue for British artist Allen Jones.

Lola Lely’s Maker’s Trestles will be in store for the next two weeks and are available to order directly from The New Craftsmen as a 6 to 8 seat dining table, as well as a second smaller breakfast table or desk (price available from The New Craftsmen upon request).
