Grown in Britain Week
Today, Grown in Britain Week was officially launched at Heal’s flagship store on Tottenham Court Road with the unveiling of a brand new range of furniture, Cranborne, which has been designed and made by Benchmark exclusively for Heal’s.
Grown in Britain brings together everyone who values our forests, woods and trees and the products we can make from the wood they produce. It is an incredibly positive movement that is bringing together:
– The environmentalists and woodland owners who contributed to the policy shaping work of the Independent Forestry Panel
– The contractors, builders and retailers who want to buy, use and sell more British timber and wood based products.
– Woodland managers, public and private agencies who want to see many more of our woods managed to produce sustainable and legal sources of wood.
Each and every piece of ash we used to make the Cranborne collection can be traced back to the Dorset forest in which it was grown. The timber travels an estimated distance of only 180 miles from the moment it is sourced to its arrival on the shop floor – a detail that boosts its green credentials even further.
To highlight the level of design and craftsmanship that has gone into this pioneering project, and to encourage customers to think about sustainability, the future of British woodlands and how this affects our everyday lives, Heals have produced a film. To watch it, and to get a true feel for the Cranborne collection visit Heal’s Tottenham Court Road this week.
There are loads of activities going on throughout the country this week to celebrate Grown in Britain. Read more about them here.
