Alfresco luxury at The Rosewood, London
The Rosewood London’s new drinking and dining destination, The Terrace, is one of our most recent projects. Award-winning landscape designer Luciano Giubbilei has transformed it into an intimate garden setting and we were commissioned to make the bespoke outdoor furniture which Luciano designed with furniture designer Nathalie de Leval as part of their new venture, Giubbilei&deLeval.
It’s been a lovely project to work on combining both our metalworking and woodworking skills as well as upholstery. London Plane trees, in vast decorative metal planters, grow through a metal pergola which we designed to have motorised blinds to provide shelter during poor weather and when the leaves of the trees have fallen. Inside the pergola, guests can nestle snugly on benches which have in-built heating, and quilted blanket cushions; or on the Love Seats and Dining Chairs which have deeply padded upholstered seats. All were made in natural untreated oak which will weather and grow more characterful with age. Round tables in green marble add texture and a sense of permanence to the space. Bespoke lighting was developed with our friends at Foundry
It’s a wonderful haven from the busy city and definitely worth a visit. Run by celebrated London restaurateur Des McDonald, the food and drink is inspired by the British seasons. Over the next few chilly months there’ll be hot toddies, hot buttered rum, spiced Somerset cider, mulled wine and British whiskeys on offer with comforting sharing hotpots to feast on.
Over the years we’ve worked on a number of bespoke outdoor projects including The Alnwick Pavilion, the National Trust and The Woodland Trust. Our collection of street and park furniture, designed by Wales and Wales, graces many iconic London spaces including St Paul’s Cathedral, the Barbican and Canary Wharf.
